A very special day
Movie Night: The Golden Age of Hollywood, with a wine pairing dinner.
As part of the "Eight Nights at Es Guix" program at Es Guix Restaurant, on Saturday, August 22nd, we present a new edition: "Golden Age of Hollywood at Es Guix," in collaboration with the legendary Jean Leon winery. This evening will combine gastronomy, wines, and open-air cinema, and seating is limited.
For this new occasion, we have created a menu inspired by the menu of what was the best restaurant in Beverly Hills in the 1950s. This year we have chosen the pairing format; the wines are included in the price of the menu. With each course, we will serve a wine from the Jean Leon wineries: Jean Leon 3035 Rosé, Vinya Gigi, Vinya Le Havre, and a dessert wine.
La Scala, the restaurant owned by Jean Leon and James Dean, became the hottest spot in Hollywood, frequented by celebrities such as Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Zsa Zsa Gabor, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and John Sinatra. La Scala inspired books and films and boasted a wine cellar with over 25,000 bottles. On November 15, 1963, Jean Leon inaugurated Bodegas Jean Leon with the intention of having his own wine served at his restaurant and positioning it among the world's finest wineries; the rest is history.
Some interesting facts:
- Jean Leon was the first to produce Cabernet Sauvignon wines in Spain. His Viña La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 1975 and Gigi Chardonnay 1980 were chosen by Ronald Reagan for his inaugural dinner at the White House.
- Jean Leon presented the first barrel-fermented Chardonnay in Spain.
- Wine magazine considered its Cabernet Sauvignon to be one of the best wines in the world.
After dinner, the evening will continue with a screening of the iconic film by our natural lake, a classic Hollywood movie. We will announce the film's title over the coming weeks.
And to make the experience complete, we will continue to offer the excellent wines of Bodegas Jean Leon by the glass by the lake, accompanied, of course, by popcorn to enjoy the outdoor cinema under the stars.
